Guinness World Record for Largest Online Poker Tournament

Posted under Poker & online poker & poker rooms

Full Tilt Poker will attempt to stamp its name on the Guinness Records and to do so; the site has announced that it will try to set a new record for the Largest Online Poker Tournament. Full Tilt’s Record Breaker tournament was unveiled as the finale to FIVE, a week of events and promotions created exclusively to celebrate the site’s 5th anniversary. The tournament will take place on July 19th at 15:05ET, players can buy in for this event for only $5 or 1000 Full Tilt Points and compete for a share of a $250,000 guaranteed with $250,000 added prize pool. Players can also get entries to this event by playing the online satellites available on the site and starting for as little as 30 cents or 50 Full Tilt Points.

Team Full Tilt pros and WSOP bracelet winners Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey have already confirmed they will take part in the event, offering players the chance to sit down at this historic tournament and play with some of the best high stakes and tournament pros in the world.

“By extending the limits of what is possible in online poker tournaments, Full Tilt Poker will allow players to compete for a big payout without the big buy-in,” said Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer.

Putting together a poker tournament of this magnitude would be nearly impossible for any brick and mortar casino or poker room. The current record for the largest “live” poker tournament was set at the 2006 WSOP Main Event with 8,772 players. To break the current Guinness Record set by PokeStars.com in December, 2008, Full Tilt Poker will need to attract over 35.000 players. If successful, this tournament will establish Full Tilt Poker as World Record holder and cement its reputation as a world leader in online poker industry.

Online Poker Investigation Story will air on CBS’ 60 Minutes

Posted under Poker & online poker & poker rooms

absolute poker
This Sunday, November 30th the CBS network will premiere their investigation special “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This special investigation show was filmed after a 4 month examination into the online Texas Hold’em poker industry and in particular a con concerning the online Texas Hold’em site Absolute Poker.

This Texas Hold’em poker page was probed after some of the Texas Hold’em poker players on the site stated that a player was illegally winning an incredible amount of money. Todd Witteles was a major witness in this study, according to him; he was losing huge amounts of cash to the very same Texas Hold’em poker player. Witteles says that this man was raising against awfully good poker hands, anyone would have believed he was simply handing over his money, but he was in fact winning poker chips.

Witteles was correct about his statements, later on it was discovered that a player who knew about the site was able to see any poker player’s hole cards. At first look, Absolute Poker stated that there were no issues with the page or the poker competitor. After numerous players came forward with accusations, the poker website investigated further into the situation and made the discovery.

In January of 2008, the KGC exposed what the Texas Hold’em players and the Texas Hold’em page had assumed all the time. The investigation proved that, there was an employee who had invaded the Texas Hold’em page’s security system and was competing dishonestly for approximately six weeks. The investigation proved that the Texas Hold’em room had not profited from the illicit behavior in any way, and was definitely not implicated.

These issues are further confirmation that there must be more control in regards to online poker pages. The US government needs to license and control the online gambling business to shield these upright consumers. These laws would also police the admission to these websites by children, which tends to be another issue nowadays.

Can I Really Earn a Living by Playing Online Texas Hold’em Poker?

Posted under Casinos & Poker & online poker

jennifer harman
Take a second to imagine if you were to have a chat with any typical person off the street about online poker, they in all probability wouldn’t consider online Texas Hold’em poker to be a game of strategy, planning, or close examination. More than likely when you talk about Texas Hold’em poker with them, they would almost certainly imagine some guys sitting around their kitchen table having conversations and drinking beer. They also might consider Texas Hold’em to be a game of luck rather than ability, more similar to a game of roulette rather than checkers, for instance.

So the big doubt is: “Can I become rich playing poker?”. You may have your doubts but, the answer to this question is a very strong “yes”. Several people not just make a profit by playing online Texas Hold’em poker, but also become millionaires by competing in Texas Hold’em tournaments. The main issue you have to remember about online Texas Hold’em is that even though you can play in a Las Vegas casino, close to blackjack tables and slot machines; in online Texas Hold’em you are not working against the house but against other poker competitors. So, in reality, you are betting your hard cash against other players in a contest of ability as opposed to a game of fate.

You might be thinking to yourself: “What about the luck factor?” Obviously in online Texas Hold’em poker, not a soul has any idea which hands will be dealt. That doesn’t signify that you can’t play with a dependable amount of pre-tournament knowledge. One thing that is important to remember in online poker is that numbers never lie. Statistics has a rather essential role in the game of poker. Not forgetting, that even if you become rather lucky frequently the stats always seem to bring you back down to earth.

Try to remember that Sin City casino table games like online poker where you are essentially playing vs. other real-life poker players CAN be won. One will find that the more you play the game of Texas Hold’em, you will realize that it is more of game of skill as opposed to just pure chance.

Avoiding Disturbances while playing Texas Holdem Poker

Posted under Poker & online poker & poker rooms

poker
The advantages of internet poker vs. real-life casinos are vast, but besides these advantages there are also a few hindrances. Internet poker lets beginner players the prospect to try their luck in actual tournaments with expert Texas Hold em players, but these non-professional Texas Hold em players need to avoid any diversions that could impair their possibilities to come out ahead.

Lots of Full Tilt Poker players become diverted by their environment, or even by the Full Tilt Poker website they are playing on. These diversions can really cost them superb poker hands and probably their well-merited poker tournament chips. The game of poker is a game of proficiency not to mention full focus, no matter if you are playing online Texas Hold em, or in an actual brick and mortar casino.

Possibly, the biggest slip that online Texas Holdem poker players commit is by being involved in more than one poker table at the same time. The better part of amateur internet poker players will believe that this is a good scheme, but ultimately it may turn out to be a disadvantage. This way of playing different Texas Hold em poker tables simultaneously will hurt your concentration and in the end cost you money. Always remember that even the expert Texas Holdem players in the world can commit damaging errors when concentrating their attention on a few online poker tables at once.

Any given Full Tilt Poker player, maybe at some moment, find themselves playing different Full Tilt Poker tables at the same time, while watching their favorite TV show, reading their favorite poker blogs, talking on the phone to friends etc. This is a scenario which ought to be shunned if you aspire to win satellite games and succeed for big internet poker tournaments. Remember to focus your thoughts on the other online Texas Holdem player’s bets, their actions, and your own Full Tilt Poker hands if you want to be the best poker player.
